WORKSHOP 4

December 4, 2009 •  8:00 pm

Working with couples can be greatly enhanced when the therapist feels equipped with a method of understanding deeper dynamics within the dyad, a model of reframing for couples in an easy-to-hear language, and a repertoire of techniques that can help keep treatment on track when feelings run high and impasses occur.  Using clinical vignettes to highlight theory and techniques, Dr. Levitz will address concepts such as selfobject functioning of partners, narcissistic transference enactments, role expectations, emotional joining, and negotiating, reframing, and managing volatility.

Judy Levitz is the Founding Director of PPSC, where she also teaches and supervises.  She is author of “Is it Normal?"- an in-depth analysis of a couple’s treatment in Uncoupling Convention, and maintains a private practice in New York City.
